Work placement

Hands-on experience in real life situations has our main focus during vocational education and training (VET). Fulltime VET students will accomplish a great part of their study outside the school at various companies. Working with different colleagues, customers, materials, situations, techniques, etc. are of great value in becoming a professional.  This collaboration with the labour market is therefore of continuing interest and importance to Helicon.

International work experience

Helicon strongly encourages students to go for work experience abroad at least once during their study. There are many opportunities in the ‘green field’ in and outside Europe that supports the development of these young professionals. Besides job related skills, students may improve their language skills, social and personal skills and have in general an experience they’ll never forget. 

A work placement is also an excellent opportunity for teachers to improve their skills, language, and find colleagues all over the world with the same interest. Sharing best practices, new methods and evaluate different education systems may support a teachers’ personal development.

Quality of work placement

To assure quality, work placements are only possible at training companies that are certified by Aequor. Aequor is a governmental centre of expertise for the ‘green sector’, linking business and education. Certified training companies meet the quality criteria, which for example demonstrate that the training is integrated in the business operations, the students will be well supervised and the work is meaningful. Our students can only go abroad for work placements at companies that have a ‘recognition as Aequor foreign learning establishment’. Please see the website for further details: www.aequor.nl
